Free resources
Years gathering birth and baby experience has taught me a lot , in particular what brings ease; simple ways to empower; but more than anything how to help people to feel what is right for them and make that their guide.
You can learn about those things by reading or listening to How to Have a Baby. But for those of you who are just popping by or maybe don’t have the funds, this section distils some of the more valuable essentials so you can take them home for free.

The best free resource is a good birth story
So go and find some. They'll not be an obvious source at first, as people who've had a good experience tend to keep quiet about it. But keep an ear out and if you hear of a friend's friend, or a neighbour or colleague who had a positive birth experience, take them for a coffee and get grilling. Ask them everything: what helped, what hindered, what soothed, what brought strength and see how comforting it is. How their story will be a model to copy. There'll be positive birth stories on the internet too of course, and on my collated library here, www.tellmeagoodbirthstory.com. But the most inspiring and encouraging stories will be the ones you hear first hand.
